A Proposal Engineer is responsible for preparing technical proposals, cost estimates, process designs, system configurations, and commercial documentation for sewage treatment plant (STP), effluent treatment plant (ETP), wastewater recycling, and water treatment projects. The role involves understanding client requirements, designing suitable treatment solutions, preparing competitive bids, and supporting the sales team during project acquisition.
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirement Analysis
- Study customer inquiries, RFQs, tenders, BOQs, and technical specifications.
- Understand project requirements, water characteristics, flow rates, discharge norms, and site conditions.
- Coordinate with clients and sales teams to clarify technical requirements.
2. Process & System Design
- Select suitable treatment technologies such as:
- MBBR
- SBR
- STP
- UF/RO
- Tertiary Treatment
- Prepare process flow diagrams (PFD).
- Develop equipment layouts and system configurations.
- Size tanks, pumps, blowers, filters, piping, and instrumentation.
3. Cost Estimation & Budgeting
- Prepare detailed costing for:
- Mechanical equipment
- Electrical systems
- Instrumentation
- Civil requirements
- Installation & commissioning
- Obtain vendor quotations.
- Analyze BOM (Bill of Materials).
- Optimize costs without compromising quality.
4. Proposal Preparation
- Prepare technical proposals.
- Create commercial quotations.
- Develop compliance sheets.
- Prepare technical datasheets.
- Generate project presentations and solution documents.
5. Tender & Bid Management
- Participate in government and private tenders.
- Review tender documents and eligibility criteria.
- Prepare bid submissions before deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with tender requirements.
6. Customer Solution Engineering
- Suggest customized treatment solutions based on:
- Industry type
- Space availability
- Budget
- Pollution norms
- Water reuse requirements
7. Coordination
- Coordinate with:
- Design team
- Procurement team
- Sales team
- Project execution team
- Vendors
8. Technical Support to Sales
- Support sales presentations.
- Attend client meetings.
- Explain technical solutions.
- Assist in project negotiations.
